Lady Lara Croft is an 11th generation Countess. The Croft family was granted the title and rights to Abbingdon, Surrey by King Edward VI in 1547. The Croft Estates are comprised of three separate manor houses, two of which are maintained by the National Trust, and the third is home to Lady Croft.
Lady Croft herself has suffered several personal tragedies, including the deaths of both parents on separate occasions before she came of age. Reputably an accredited genius and Olympic-standard gymnast, Lady Croft is the focus of wild speculation and intense debate in both the sci-entific and political communities in addition to the popular press. Idealized and vilified in equal measure, she is perhaps one of the most fascinating and enigmatic figures of our time.

Lara Croft is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Square Enix (previously Eidos Interactive) video game series Tomb Raider. She is presented as a beautiful, intelligent, and athletic English archaeologist-adventuress who ventures into ancient, hazardous tombs and ruins around the world. Created by Toby Gard during his employment at UK developer Core Design, the character first appeared in the 1996 video game Tomb Raider. 01. NATHALIE COOK (1996-1997)
Nathalie Cook was the first model, portraying the character from 1996 to 1997. She was born in Berkshire, England.
02. RHONA MITRA (1997-1998)
Rhona Natasha Mitra (born 9 August, 1976) sometimes credited as Rona Mitra, is an English actress, model and singer. Mitra appeared as the live action model for Lara Croft, the lead character in Eidos Interactive’s Tomb Raider video game series before Angelina Jolie took the role for the two Tomb Raider movies (2001-2003).
03. VANESSA DEMOUY (1998)
French model Vanessa Demouy succeeded Mitra for a brief time until fashion model Nell McAndrew took over the role at the 1998 Electronic Entertainment Expo.
04. NELL McANDREW (1998-1999)
Nell McAndrew (born Tracey Jane McAndrew on 6 November 1973) is an English glamour model. She was born in Leeds on 6 November 1973. She has an older sister and two younger brothers. After leaving school she briefly worked as a bank clerk for the Yorkshire Bank. In the UK she appeared in the Daily Star as a Page Three girl but it was her role as the Lara Croft model for the video game Tomb Raider between 1998 and 1999 that brought her to the public’s attention. McAndrew was fired from her stint as Croft in 1999 after posing nude for the cover of Playboy, the first British woman to do so. This was partly due to Playboy printing references to Lara Croft and Tomb Raider on the cover, which were removed when Eidos, the maker of the game, threatened a lawsuit.
05. LARA WELLER (1999-2000)
Lara Weller followed McAndrew from 1999 to 2000. Born in Rotterdam Holland, Lara grew up in Maastricht which according to Lara is an amazing place but her rebel instinct needed some more excitement. It was because of this that Lara moved to Amsterdam at the age of 19 and worked in one of the biggest diamond stores in Holland. Later she was approached by a modelling agent who asked her to join their agency. Soon after Lara was offered an opportunity that would change her life forever and was given the job of representing Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft for a year.
